Much of the super light knives in the new Nightshade ™ series are detailed replicas of existing popular Cold Steel blades. Some are completely new creations.

The blades are made of Griv-Ex ™, the latest in glass fiber reinforced plastic. Griv-Ex ™ is even more robust than Zy-Ex ™, the super-hard material used on previous Cold Steel models. Each blade is also UV and heat stabilized and therefore weather resistant.

Among other things, these knives are characterized by their unique, deeply ribbed handles. The handle fishing was sprayed directly with Kray-Ex ™. The use of Kray-Ex ™ in knife handle design is a Cold Steel innovation from the early 1980's. This material provides a first-class, easy-to-grip surface that is resistant to heat, cold or moisture. It will never rust, deform, tear or splinter, even under the harshest conditions.
